Dear Rector,

The Honorable Academician, Minir Shushi

Dear Ministers,

Dear Mr. Dillon Green, from the US Embassy in Kosovo,

Dear representatives of Universities,

Dear Participants, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is our honor and pleasure to welcome you to the First International Multidisciplinary Geosciences Conference – IMGC2019.

We called it the first conference, not because in the past there were no conferences in the field of geosciences but because we linked it to the New Campus of Mitrovica University. This is the first year we have developed activities on this campus. The goal is for the conference to be regular and to identify with the New Campus. If in the Organizing Council we have had dilemmas for the Conference to be regular, why not even today, this dilemma is no longer due to your participation and your contribution to this Conference. Thank you very much! Since the 1960s the Faculty of Geosciences in Mitrovica (Formerly Tenik High School, former Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy within the University of Prishtina, since 2013 Academic Unit of Mitrovica University “Isa BOletini”) has trained competent expert and has enabled to perform of professional and scientific research in the field of geology, mining and material & metallurgy, technology based on social and economic circumstances. The development of the professions mentioned in Kosovo is largely dependent on the activities of the Faculty, while the faculty staff overtime has continuously contributed to the prosperity of these professions in particular and to society at large. In connection with these developments, we have the honor and pleasure to attend this Conference also the founder of these fields Academic Minir Dushi. Thank you, Academic! Today the earth sciences are developing rapidly, so the need for high-quality knowledge is constantly increasing. Raw materials economics and materials economics are two scientific complexes that play a central role in the development of any country. Raw material economics involves the exploration, discovery and exploitation of raw materials, while the material economy encompasses all the evaluation criteria as well as the physicochemical, technical and economic parameters of the materials as final products of the mineral materials. Knowledge of mineral raw materials and their changes during natural processes and technological impacts is an important condition for utilizing natural geological resources and maintaining the creation of living spaces of human society including current environmental problems and competence of the environment. methods for research and management of environmental fields. Geo-scientists of the coming decades will face local, national and global issues related to the reduction of mineral and energy resources, water resources, natural hazards, as well as the assessment of spaces for infrastructure projects and residential areas.

Dean of the Faculty of Geosciences 2 Their efforts must address the environmental challenges of protecting the quality of life by managing development in an increasingly populated world. Moreover, there is a recognition of the relationship of these issues identified through the concept of sustainable development where ethical considerations suggest that one should use resources to meet not only today’s need but also the need of the next generation. As a consequence, today’s society looks to Geoscience not only for providing its mineral demand but also for generating data to solve issues affecting development projects on the environment, the spread of natural hazards and health hazards. The implication is simple, that geoscientists have to come together in such integrated projects. Moreover, geoscientists need to be reoriented to collaborate with other branches to respond to societal needs. I believe this Conference has achieved this goal. As Dean of the Faculty of Geosciences, I would like to extend a warm welcome to colleagues from different countries. of the region and Europe who have accepted our invitation to attend the Conference. Economic growth and technological advancement are considered necessary but must be achieved fairly in a sensitive environment. Sustainable development is the process by which societies transform economic, environmental, and social capital in ways that provide constant and continuous opportunities for satisfying the needs of humanity across generations. I hope that the proceedings of the Conference will create opportunities to enhance the exchange of knowledge and new discoveries in the field of Geosciences and related fields of application. These Conferences enable a constructive dialogue between participants from different countries. They also provide a valuable opportunity for the network
