The book: “Memory of Trepca – 100 stories of former workers of Trepca”, was promoted

At the “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica (UIBM) the book: “Memory of Trepça – 100 confessions of former workers of Trepça”, realized in cooperation with the Department of Anthropology / UP and supported by the Swiss Office for Cooperation in Kosovo, was promoted on Wednesday. and Trepça Sh.A. The book documents the history and social and cultural life experienced by the former workers of Trepça, unfolded through their confessions, and will serve the city of Mitrovica and the country in general.

Leaders and representatives of institutions, former miners and dignitaries and guests of public life were present at the promotion. The rector of UIBM, prof. dr. Alush Musaj, who congratulated the team for the work done.

Rector Musaj said that events like this enrich the life of an institution such as the university. “Trepça” and the miners represent the Mitrovica identity. Life in this town started and developed around the mine. In the meantime, the academic life in Mitrovica has been closely connected with “Trepca”, he said.

Being a story in itself, according to him, the initiative to collect confessions from the former miners of “Trepça”, is a project to preserve our collective memory, which we have often been able to ignore. “Ex-miners have created a history that at the same time reflects the history of our country in general,” he said.

A welcoming speech was also held by the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Mitrovica, Arian Tahiri, then Greta Avdyli, an assistant at UP, Lulzim Hoti, executive director at 7 Arte, Bajram Mustafa, former employee of the “Trepça” Combine and dr. Arsim Canolli, professor in the Department of Anthropology at UP.
