Organized by the Faculty of Law at the “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica (UIBM), an online Scientific Roundtable was held on Thursday to mark the 17th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo (February 17, 2008). The event, moderated by Professor Assoc. Dr. Zahir Çerkini from the Faculty of Law at UIBM, included UIBM leadership, professors, and other local and international guests.

After opening remarks by the UIBM Rector, Prof. Dr. Nurten Deva, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at UIBM, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Islam Qerimi, thanked the participants for joining the workshop. Following this, the following speakers took the floor: Prof. Dr. Irma Baraku, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Shkodër, Prof. Dr. Bartolomej Zapala, expert at the European Commission, Prof. Dr. Hab. Marta Witkowska from the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Warsaw, Prof. Dr. Konrad Pavlovski from the “Maria Curie” University in Poland, Prof. Dr. Renata Mienkowska from the European Commission, and Prof. Assoc. Dr. Zahir Çerkini from the Faculty of Law at UIBM.

The panelists addressed various aspects related to the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo, including specific segments of international law, the involvement and approach of international mechanisms, and the stance of individual states.
