A brief history of the Faculty of Economics, UIBM

The Faculty of Economics is one of the six academic units of the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica. The Faculty of Economics was established on 04.07.2014, with decision no. 548-14, issued by the State Quality Council (SQC) of the KAA. Based on the necessary need for the organization and development of higher education according to the standards and criteria of European Universities and beyond, the Faculty of Economics in Mitrovica within the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica proposes the model of reformed studies according to plans and programs based on the recommendations of the Bologna Declaration.

The Faculty of Economics within the University “Isa Boletini” Mitrovica (UIBM) has started working in the academic year 2013-14 with two departments: Bank Finance and Accounting; Management and Informatics as an academic unit of UP in Prishtina. Whereas, in the academic year 2014-15, it started as an independent academic unit within UIBM.

The Faculty of Economics, for the academic year 2015-16 accepted full-time students in two departments: Banking, Finance and Accounting as well as in Management and Informatics, for 220 places where 200 places were for students from Kosovo, 10 places for communities, and 10 places for: Preshevo, Bujanovac, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia.

From the academic year 2015-16, the Faculty of Economics organized the studies according to the curricula approved by the Senate of the University “Isa Boletini” Mitrovica based on the Bologna Declaration, in which case the Accreditation Agency has accredited the study programs of the Faculty in Bachelor studies (for both departments: Banking, Finance and Accounting and Management and Informatics).

The Faculty of Economics at the bachelor level offers the study program Business and Management with specialization Bank, Finance and Accounting. Our faculty is preparing to provide Master Studies in the program Business and Management with three specializations: Bank, Finance and Accounting; Management and Entrepreneurship; and Industrial Management.

The study programs offered by the Faculty of Economics have been compiled in cooperation with external stakeholders as well as taking into account the requirements of the local and international labor market. For this purpose, the Faculty of Economics has established the Advisory Body within the FE, which consists of Owners and Managers of successful businesses in the region and beyond, from whom we obtain information on labor market requirements, and the requirements of them we try to adapt on the offered study programs.

FE has signed Cooperation Agreements with some successful businesses that enable our students to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.

Our faculty is committed to contribute in the community by providing a variety of expertise to both the business community and society.
