Ladies and gentleman,
I have the special pleasure to greet you and welcome you to “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica at the opening of the fifth edition of the “International Multidisciplinary Geoscience Conference”.
This conference represents an important event for our university, but since it has an international character, it is also an activity marked in the scientific calendar not only in the country, but also in a wider area.
As such, this conference appears in the list of annual activities from the European Geological Survey.
This undoubtedly shows the seriousness of this organization, part of which, in addition to the Faculty of Geosciences at “Isa Boletini” University, from the beginning are also the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals, the Ministry of Economy: the mining department and the Geological Service of Kosovo.
In this context, allow me to thank the organizers of the first edition and congratulate them for their work and dedication to make the conference happen every year, even during the years when the world was facing the pandemic caused by Covid-19 Thank you all, because you have done an extraordinary job even under extraordinary circumstances.
Dear guests, “Isa Boletini” University in Mitrovica, this year marked the 10th anniversary of its establishment, and events like this show the complete consolidation of this institution. We have 10 years as an academic institution, and 5 years as a scientific conference that gathers professors, students, researchers and scientists from the field of geosciences and not only from the country, region and various European countries.
Mitrovica has 62 years of academic tradition directly related to the field of geosciences. The underground wealth in our city and region, the famous mines of “Trepça” and the mining industry in general in Kosovo has been managed and developed by experts and cadres from the academic institutions that were opened in the city of miners.
We are happy that this tradition of geoscience development is continuing in Mitrovica. We are happy that “Isa Boletini” University has become a point of reference for researchers and scientists in this field from the country, the region and Europe. I am pleased to be here together for two days, to present our work and our latest research in the field of geoscience.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me finally once again thank you for your presence here today and wish success to all the participants in this conference.
