ONLINE WORKSHOP FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS AND RESEARCH INFORMATION SYSTEM IN KOSOVO (KRIS)

On November 24 and 25, the online workshop was held within the research package 3 of the ResearchCult project. The seminar had gathered more than 100 participants from Kosovo, Croatia, Italy and Bulgaria. The project partners discussed project activities such as the establishment of scientific journals in Kosovo, as well as the discussion to define and conceive the platform of open access to research information, namely the Kosovo Research Information System (KRIS).
During the two-day workshop our partners from Croatia, Italy and Bulgaria shared their experiences in creating scientific journals. Participants discussed the importance of scientific journals to the community by combining experiences and success stories from each partner country.
During the workshop, participants discussed the creation of six (6) scientific journals in the following key areas:
1. Environmental energy and natural resources
2. Agricultural production and food security
3. Medical research
4. Development of a knowledge-based society
5. Linguistic, historical and cultural studies
6. Information and communication

Participants were divided into six (6) groups and discussed and shared their knowledge and experiences for each specific group and gave recommendations and suggestions for the creation of six (6) scientific journals.
UIBM had its representatives in the working groups according to the respective fields. The results of the seminar from the working groups were the first suggestions regarding the determination of the frameworks of journals in terms of established scientific focus, interdisciplinary journals, joint activities between local and international partners for the creation of journals, editorial boards, the process of review and other issues for the proper functioning of scientific journals. As for KRIS, best practices were exchanged from Croatia (Hrcak and Crosby), Italy (IRIS) and Bulgaria (National Reference List) and provided information on defining the KRIS framework.
